Post script

I decided to move on from the magazine for a while and sketch my stunningly beautiful friend Natalia (who also has a lot to do with me developing my visual side). Sorry the photo of my drawing is such crap quality, but you get the idea.

Now that I'm able to see the two side by side, I can definitely see ways to improve it. I should try doing this kind of compare more often!

  2. Nice work, Bryn! You definitely captured her likeness. If I may offer some advice (as one who is a fellow artist like yourself), try and start with a general gesture of the person at first. Draw the lines/curves of the position of the subjects' body. Keep the lines flowing. Then fill in the head, torso, arms, legs, etc. by drawing in the general shapes you see (squinting helps). Keep it loose and leave the details at the very end. In case you were wondering, I have an art background and have been drawing since I was a kid and formalized my art training in college. You can see some samples of my artwork on this link: http://www.artsopolis.com/profile/detail/1005

I look forward to more of you drawings. Keep them coming. I am now inspired to have you as an artist companion when I go back to the National Gallery and do some sketches. :)
